Adoption of Final Report of the Major National Dialogue

Participants of the Major National Dialogue adopted the Final Report of the conclave during a plenary presided over by the chairperson, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute on 3 October 2019.

It was revealed that complete details of the report – resolutions of the eight commissions – will be made public during a solemn closing session on 4 October 2019.

This was prior to the announcement of President Paul Biya’s pacifying decision for the discontinuance of proceedings pending before Military Tribunals against 333 persons arrested for misdemeanours, in connection with the crisis in the North-West and South-West Regions.

Nine new apologetic secessionist fighters were equally presented to journalists during an impromptu press briefing to kick-start Day four.

Defence and security forces were part of the second press briefing in the afternoon.

In an exclusive video projection, they presented highlights of civil-military actions in the crisis regions. These included humanitarian activities in the education and health domains, interventions to protect the population and property, and reconstruction works.

The last part of the video showcased the gruesome atrocities committed by armed separatists since 2016.

The military personnel seized the opportunity to reassure the public. They promised to continue with their well-founded mission to safeguard the territorial integrity of Cameroon in full respect of the law.

The day ended with a grand gala organised at the Yaounde Conference Centre.
